Poor quality and some movements are non functional
This is poor quality. It wiggles, there was rust, there is no stopper so all the tension is on the cable making it hard to adjust with weight, and the cable ends get stuck in the pulleys in the lat pulldown position. I would not recommend this pull down and will be asking for a refund and return.

Your right the tension is always on the cable, what I did is at the bottom were the weights come down I put three 7in plywood around and tied it with straps ,3sides of the bar and put black tape around it to blend in
